Why Do We Need P2Poolv2

Bitcoin mining pools are a centralization pressure on bitcoin.

Given the pool distribution on mempool.space, the goal of P2Poolv2 is to let miners mine blocks without depending on a centralized server that a single organization controls.

P2Poolv2 provides an open source software stack that participants can run to pool their hashrate and can reach agreement on how much each miners is paid for their work. The p2poolv2 nodes collectively validate all work and make sure pool’s progress cannot be stalled or hijacked by a single malicious operator. The control on mining is therefore taken away from centralised operators and handed back to the miners.

P2Poolv2 reboots the original P2Pool for bitcoin. It builds on the latest advances in bitcoin and uses modern programming languages and libraries, such as rust-bitcoin.
